This recipe for muhammara is easy to make and insanely addictive. I discovered this delicious dish in one of my favorite Middle Eastern restaurants in Miami- Amal. A classic dip, featuring roasted red peppers, toasted walnuts, and breadcrumbs with herbs, spices, and a dash of maple syrup (or pomegranate molasses) to create an absolute flavor sensation. Trust me you have to try this!

- Toast all walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 5 min. Reserve.
- Roasted Peppers: Preheat oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and oil the peppers. Place on baking sheet and roast for 40 min (til softened and charred). Turn once during roasting. Remove from oven, place in a bowl, cover with plastic film and cool down for 15 min. Remove and discard the skin, seed and stems.
- In a skillet over medium heat, saute the onion in 2 Tbsp of olive oil until browned, about 5-6 minutes. Add the garlic, tomato paste, cumin and chile flakes. Cook another minute. Transfer into a food processor along with the roasted peppers, 1 Tbsp of oil, breadcrumbs, maple syrup, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Process for 30 sec and then add 1 cup toasted walnuts. Process again for another 30 sec to keep chunky.
- Transfer to a shallow serving dish, top with a drizzle of olive oil, toasted walnuts, crushed, and parsley.
