- Pre-heat your oven on Bake 375F.
- Unroll your puff pastry on its parchment paper and cut a large circle using a baking ring or a pizza cutter. About 25cm diameter.
- Spread a thin layer of apple sauce over the dough, leaving 1 inch on the edge, that you will "egg wash" (whisk the egg yolk with a bit of water and gently brush the outer part of the dough).
- Peel and core your apples. Slice them thinly and start placing them on your round dough starting from the outside, going in.
- Melt butter and sugar together, add vanilla extract and gently brush the warm mixture all over the apples including the outer part.
- Bake for 30 min at 375F and finish on Roast at 400F for an additional 5min.
- Et voila!! deliciously caramelised and crunchy, with melting apples. Enjoy a slice of this tart on its own or with a low-sugar vanilla ice cream for special occasions.
